Isai (music) Vellalar (creator) is the south Indian artistic commune of artists in classical Carnatic music and dance: the Tanjore Quartet artistic ancestry (from 1638) and their dance artists. In the former kingdom Thanjavur (Tanjore, 19th century) the unbroken heredity line of master artists (Nattuvanar Guru’s) developed, preserved and continued the innovation of the original traditional school of Bharata Natyam earlier known as Catir (Sadir).
